Sometimes, Individuals have to struggle a lot to realize their real selves. The line can be accepted and analyzed by the provided reading: Tracks by Robyn Davidson and Charlie’s Country directed by Rolf de Hee.
The two of the above-mentioned readings can be used well to analyze the given statement as both of the mentioned readings have some realizations of the self. While going through the Tracks by Robyn Davidson, it is seen that the book explores the journey of the writer through the forest and meeting with nature at the closest. Her journey was started earlier and was shared by the National Geographic channel. After the acclamation of the journey, she decided to write a book on it named Tracks and it went on to win The Thomas Cook Book award. The journey is about going through nature and meeting Aboriginals. The realization of self is determined here as the indication when the writer realizes that it was more comfortable to stay within the forest rather than clinging to a man. The love for nature and exploration helped the author in realizing what she wanted from life (Brazzelli, 2015). She went on studying more and more about the nomads and called herself a self-made anthropologist. The mentioning of her meeting with the Australian aboriginals is one of the best moments that changed the due course of her life and she started making out times and efforts for working towards the nomadic and the works that made her close to nature. These ways can surely elaborate that Davidson had to struggle a lot in realizing what she wanted to do and she made continuous efforts in making herself be engrossed in whatever she wanted to do (Horáková, 2015).
The next reading that is provided to be explored is Charlie's country by Rolf de Hee. It is an award-winning movie that focuses on the life of Charlie, an aboriginal who stays in Australia doing meagre works and thinks that this is not his country anymore. In a succession of many events, he comes across certain things that make him feel his real self and finally he settles down like a dancer who teaches the young boys dancing as he fears the talent and cultural identity would be lost with time (Baehr & Schmidt-Haberkamp, 2017). The events that make him realize this is the prison episode where he is sent to prison for selling alcohol illegally with an aboriginal woman. He gets irritated and poised by seeing the urban aboriginal community who have lost the aboriginal essence and thus he leaves the community and goes back to his land called bush. The scenes of realization are appropriate because Charlie had to struggle a lot in making himself feel that what he is required to do, In the end, he makes himself appropriate in teaching dancing to aboriginal young boys. The major setback that he experiences is the confiscation of his spear that had aboriginal linkage(Baehr & Schmidt-Haberkamp, 2017). It was confiscated as it was thought to be a weapon by the nonaboriginal policeman. This made him more sensitive towards the Australians and he had no love except for his motherland. The series of misfits that Charlie experiences help him in realizing what he wanted to have. The providing of alcohol and going to prison are all the dimensions that helped him realize and recognize what he wanted to do (Columpar, 2019).
The major comparison between the two can be evaluated based on the amount of good or bad experience they had. Davidson had naturally good experiences where she realized that it was her way of living life by exploring the lives of the nomadic and writing about it. It gave her peace on a mental and physical level. On the other hand, life was not smooth for Charlie because he had to face the loss of his indigenous spear. His anger was displayed when he left the urban aboriginals and came back to the bush. Befriending with an aboriginal woman and ending up in prison, all in all, he had bad experiences and after being released from prison, it is when he makes up his mind to make his traditional dancing transfer from his generation to the younger aboriginals boys. This is when he decides to live his life this way and make it to it till the end of his life.
Both mentioned titles do take forward through a journey of self acclamation and realization of what one wants. The journey of life is continuous and it does not stop. Every single person does have a journey of their own and while going through it, they come across what they want to pursue. Both the titles provide major information that struggle is important and evident in making someone know the truth about themselves. It is evident and philosophical that realizing the true ones of an individual requires a journey through which one can get to know the objectives of life and also the ways by which it can be continued till the last breath.
Both the provided readings assure the same objective of providing the realization of self through detrimental steps that include positive and negative both with differing situations. Both give the same message but the situations portrayed are different and it is the medium of comparison. Therefore, self-actualization is important for being active and productive throughout life and it is an important part of human evolution.
