Introduction to Law Enforcement Assistance Program

In the fast changing world, the way business is done has undergone rapid changes and thus management is required to keep on developing new strategies to be in line with market trends. Thus it is righty said that “change is the only constant” and there is influx of change management strategies world over that have helped and guided management team to understand and outdo the changes and help the organisation out of trouble. Although they comprise of certain degree of risk, change management strategies are inevitable and thus needs to be dealt with caution and care and thus a proper analysis is highly recommended (Saura, 2017). In this report, a changes required in database and software’s of Law Enforcement Assistance Program (LEAP) are discussed and evaluated for a change due to high inconsistencies in interface with various departments leading to mismanagement of records. A feedback and proposal to change current systems and practices are also suggested highlighting the associated risks involved (Patrutiu-Baltes, 2016).

Training for Changing the Attitude and mindset

Due to pre defined work process and laid down work procedure, the thinking ability of the staff is seriously hampered and they have not been able to solve a long driven issue ( Kannan, 2017).

Basis human behaviour studies, initially such change would not be liked but gradually it would be accepted and become new normal for them.

It is possible that due to transition of software there could be certain anomalies initially and lead to increased work but gradually it all would settle down.

For training purpose, new software needs to be deployed and existing data needs to be migrated on it. Such a change would help in providing fast access to information.

Creating a procedure of written communication

A change needs to be documented so that there is no ambiguity in usage of the same.

due to increase in operational activity, the written procedure would consume more time initially ( Saura, 2017).

Due to clarity in work and process, the staff would be precise in their approach.

installation of new systems would need framing new processes.

Enforcing Atlay’s policies and working hours conditions

Such a change would assist in closure of system migration and related trainings on time.

A new process could take time for acceptance and implementation ( Todor, 2017).

The work quality, data retrieval and effective storage would be increased.

Such a change would not affect the technological aspect.

Working outside scope of standard procedures

Many a times it is required to go out of the way and complete the tasks, thus a push in this phase would provide some liberty and team could conduct operations freely ( Todor, 2017)

As processes does not allows such things, it could take more time as expected a s approval for such work would not come or take time.

A failure on project implementation could happen due to this as such measures were not incorporated in the project management analysis.

The technological impact is minimal.

From the given case study it is evident that there are issues in Law Enforcement Assistance Program and data base storage, retrieval and management is not in good shape. This is due to the fact that the software’s are too old and are not capable of handling large volume increase create due to increase in number of cases over so many years and the compatibility of old software in modern day fast changing technology is not supported by new software’s thus leading to delay in interface, mismanagement in data and other issues cropping up. While the department have raised such issues and have got permission to go in for a change, the implementation is again compromised and is not conducted in a professional manner.

Conclusion on Law Enforcement Assistance Program

.It is concluded and recommended to carry out a drive with a thought for future and give considerable budget and importance so that it is driven in a more professional manner else the departments would make expense but the results would not be as effective as thought earlier. It is highly recommended to have an review committee framed and assess the development and deviations till date and work on backup plans and make changes and improvements.
