Today, I have experienced an episode of the bullyism, as I belong to the Asian community within my workplace. I was shocked and taken aback. I was pushed out of the conversation and was asked to see my identity and outcasted from the group. As I belong to the Asian background, I have faced racism and bullyism for the first time in my life. I could relate, my episode to the "This is my blood, This is my song", where the musician Rafael Ullmann is sent to the concentration camp by the Nazi's and is denied most of his rights (This is my song, 2017). I could relate, when being denied of the basic rights upon which a person survives, such as the freedom to express, live and take decisions are missing and denied, it would cause difficulties for the person survival in the world. In my experience, I have faced inequality in the workplace to be equally challenging, where I faced the seclusion and the ousted episode. As being an Asian, I could realise, my blood is Asian and my sound music is where I belong to.
While the entire episode, was an eye-opener, I could also relate with the Catholic Social Teaching, which mentions, firstly Life and Dignity of a Human Person, secondly to abide by the Rights and Responsibilities and thirdly to abide by the Family, Community, and Participation. The principle of Life and Dignity of a Human person, every person is precious, and so are the people and their belongings. It is also a measurable output that defines with the measure of every institution, which can threaten the existence of every human belonging (Catholic Social Teaching, 2017). The second is the Rights and Responsibilities that identifies that every human value, dignity and cultural attributes can be safeguarded only if the human rights can be protected and responsibilities can be met. Such rights and duties are responsible for one another (Catholic Social Teaching, 2017). Thirdly, Family, Community, and Participation, which teaches to value everyone (Catholic Social Teaching 2017)..

In doing this paper, I have gone through the book by the name of "This Is My Music" by the author Richard Yaxley who provides detailed episodes of the powerful multi-generational story. Such as it starts with the legacy of the Holocaust, then discusses in depth about the Compelling themes of family and lastly, the book describes the power of isolation, along with having creativity (This Is My Song, 2020). By reading a book, which is the winder of Scholastic Australia and also 2019-2020 ACU Book of the Year Award, has provided an insight about the hauntingly beautiful and providing insightful, detailed information about the three continental events.
At first, I was not able to go beyond the pp. 30-32 “Our Father Bashing” that describes the principle of the "Family, Community, and Participation" (Catholic Social Teaching, 2017). Same was learned in line pp. 77 “Self, hope and action”, where it is described that (“I had lost the hope that sparks all-action…."). These two lines describe the importance and one can relate to the action with the common good and advocacy, In the pp. 91 describes “she wanted to join them…”), which is the rights and the responsibility of the CST principle. Same was also found in the pp. 10, “To be fair, my vain and foolish father…”), that again describes the role of the father and he has felt responsible, by following his duties. Lastly the dignity of human life, CST principle was identified in the line pp. 43 (“my child, it is difficult…” that describes the nature of events and to value the life and achieve the dignified life (Catholic Social Teaching, 2017).
When reading the book “This Is My Song” I was able to relate with the story of the three continents in the different time-lines, describing the events in the manner that one can relate to. In the event, when the musician Rafael Ullmann was sent to the Nazi concentration, Rafael faced the most traumatic events and also experienced the holocaust camp. I could relate to how human dignity was denied, to live a free life. He faced the most horrifying formidable and disreputable Auschwitz experience, which made him exhaust and lose from his music forever (This is my song, 2017).
As the Rafeal Ullamne, fled to Canada in 1970s and has a daughter Annie Ullmann, started to embark life journey in the Canadian prairie, the author describes year after years, Rafeal has experienced the haunting episodes and nights (This is my song, 2017). Every day, he dreams of the haunted episode of going into the goshawk and experiencing as a bonded person, who wants to have a free life but is denied of every duties and responsibility. The CST principle of family, community and participation, as they live in the Canadian Prairie, is observed, as the Father Rafeal has been able to give a secure place to the family/
A decade later, when the Jon Hawker son of the Annie Ullmann, living in the Brisbane, has a motive to be a Cow Historian, and the second purpose is to sing for the teacher by being able to find a hidden in-depth meaning to start his songs. Later on, he comes across the song, written by the grandfather, which all the three-generation heads were looking for. The CST principle of the rights and the responsibilities helps to understand the role of the father here and his own denied rights to live a free life and embark on an independent journey.
I was very well relating to the findings and to understand, the generational aspect that is described form the book. The author has provided an articulation of the precise language and contexts that can be followed at every separate time being. The author has used the description comparison of context, and one can relate to the culture and the three stories. It is followed and add on to the three-generational characters. It is also a way to describe the character development that can be endearing to relate with. I was also able to understand, how one lives and progress, but from the eyes of the offspring, one can understand the different perspectives on lives and identifying the privy.
In "This Is My Song” which is the story of the generational discord, I have learned the human dignity that was denied when persecution of the Jewish race was faced in World War II. Due to this, the consequences, one can face as one lives with the three different generational and with the very different protagonists, and the novel is good to read about the WW I and the WW II.
