Panwa Promtep and several other international students voiced their discontent with the latest updates in the COVID-19 vaccine policy. Under the new guidelines, only students who received vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be allowed for the in-person semester. These include Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen. This means international students will now be required to get vaccinated again. Earlier in August, the university announced and notified the students of the list of vaccines that were accepted. Had the students been told ahead of time, they would have only taken the authorized doses. While experts say that there are no risks due to cross-platform vaccination, this may significantly strengthen students’ immunity against the delta virus. They also believe double vaccination is similar to the boosters given after a person has received both the shots. The university will provide support to all students who will share their concerns about getting the new vaccines.
