58 London Universities are reported to observe strikes lasting three days: December 1 to 3. Those not participating in these strikes will get indirectly affected by them as there are high chances of ‘short action’ to take place this summer. These strikes are a result of the displeasure shown by the faculty and staff due to unnecessary pension cuts and high workloads. Even the National Union of Students has offered to support the strikes. Another reason highlighted by the UCU is related to the payout of the faculty and staff. Such reasons may bring further disruption to the study year ahead and the UCU will escalate the disputes if the employers do not resolve them in time. Authorities say that it could lead to significant delay in teaching, increased stress on students, and loss of good learning resources.
