The Plan of $18m Indigenous Culture Disclosed At Algoma University!

The federal and provincial governments are collaborating with Sault Ste. Marie's Algoma University to establish an $18 million Indigenous culture centre. According to a news release from Catherine McKenna's office on Thursday, "This included upgrades to the university's East Wing building in order to instal Mukqua Waakaa'igan, the Anishinaabemowin name awarded to the modern cultural centre." The cultural hub is intended to serve as an institute, foster Anishinaabe language, and aid in the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.
