It has been confirmed by the Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, and Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, that the bubble arrangement traveling will be started with the students. This traveling system has been established by two countries. Lee confirmed that the student will be prioritized in this system. Morrison also stated that this will be happening sooner than later.

Lee also noted that the starting date for the bubble would be informed once the vaccination and remission rates in the two countries are at good rates. He said “when the majority of the population gets vaccinated it will be much easier for us to start this system. So there is no timetable for the bubble travel arrangement yet. But we are hoping that will be starting as soon as possible.”

Australia Prime Minister Morrison added that before that the pandemic Singaporeans used to travel to Australia for business, holidays, higher education, etc. he said we need to resume the same flow again. Resuming this will be beneficial for the bilateral relationship between Australia and Singapore.

It was Singapore that proposed the travel bubble in October. But there was no handshake done from the part of Australia until it finalized the quarantine-free travel with

New Zealand. It can be seen that Australia is desperate for international students to return to the campus for in-person lessons. As the higher education sector lost more than 17,000 jobs due to pandemics.
