Substantial changes in the immigration and visa policy are likely to be implemented in the New Financial Year, July 1, 2021-2022, for economic stability.

Paving the way for future economic growth as a post-pandemic recovery, Australia’s Permanent Migration Program for 2021-2022 designed to support the country’s immediate response, with an eye on economic recovery.

The visa policy change would also impact a large part of international students, skilled migrants or Australian citizens that are permanent residents.

For those looking to work and live in Australia permanently in the ensuing year 2022, the visa policy changes will impact them as well.

However, the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) is all out to support the employer-sponsored visa applications. This visa, with an occupation on the PMSOL, remains a high priority visa during processing. Meanwhile, the other skilled occupation lists will also remain active.

Australia’s Migration Program is set annually as part of the federal Budget process and considers the country’s changing economic and health conditions, labour and social cohesion needs.

The year 2021-22 Migration Program has a Federal budget approved for an overall planning level of 160,000 places, where the place for skilled stream amounts to 79,500 homes and 77,250 positions for the family stream.

The year ahead has continued flexibility for Skill stream labour due to uncertain health, changing border and economic conditions arising from COVID-19 and changes in the circumstances in the last two years, said Abul Rizvi, Former deputy secretary of the Department of Immigration.

The changes in Australian Immigration visas have been kept in mind to remain flexible and adjust to the current circumstances.
