South African countries will soon attain an overall 90% vaccination rate as all the people above the age of 12 have received both the doses of vaccines. Once this happens, the Government will remove the international border restrictions allowing travellers to enter and leave the country freely. They anticipate opening of borders for students and travellers in January 2022. Thousands of students stranded outside Africa are eagerly waiting for this to happen. According to a report published by INDAILY, the current minimum vaccination rate in most African countries is 80%. Local scientists predict that it will only pass the benchmark of 90% vaccination rate in January next year. Hence, it will be great news for students waiting to start their studies from the campuses. The Government had already announced that inbound students will not be required to quarantine themselves for a fortnight, but it will be mandatory for community areas with 80% vaccination rates.
