If we go back to April 2020, the warning signs can be seen in a comment by Scott Morrison, wherein he told in a press conference that international students should go back to their home countries if they can’t support themselves. Moreover, he said they may have contributed to the society and economy as Australia sees visitors in its good times. Also, it is reasonable that 30% of the population born overseas sees the benefits of global mobility. However, it has to be said that global students are a litmus test for the government as they contribute to making the country wealthier in terms of providing an economic return of over AU $37 billion.
The higher education group in Australia has long been a welcome source of dynamism, innovation, and imagination in the field, and life isn't the same without them. Because of the lack of political will to open its borders to foreign students, it is likely to remain in the second tier of countries regarded by international students for the near future. That possibility is likely one of the reasons the nation, along with India and South Korea, has been invited to this year's Group of Seven Leaders' Summit in June.
