As per the data of the COVID-19 Global Education Recovery Tracker, 80% of schools worldwide resumed and conducting classes regularly. Out of those, 54% are allowing the physical presence of teachers and students in classrooms, and 34% of schools are providing hybrid learning. However, the rest 10% are still completely dependent on online learning, and 2% are closed.

Moreover, the tracker developed by the collaboration of the John Hopkins University, the World Bank, and UNICEF further shows that only 53% of countries are prioritizing the vaccination for teachers. World Bank has suggested all countries vaccinate teachers on priority to reopen in-person teaching soon.

In countries where vaccination drive will take a longer time, the World Bank has recommended following masking and social distancing in classrooms to resume conventional learning. The organization has also referred to the evidence of low transmission of the virus in children to strengthen up its recommendation.
