The University of Toronto released its Facts and Figures report for the year 2020, which is a compilation of data on total student population, international students, faculty, revenue and more. While studying the reports, The Varsity revealed how much things have changed over the last fifteen years. Between 2005 and 2020, the funds received from the Government, which made up half of the University’s total revenue, have declined by a significant proportion, and is now just one-third of it. At the same time, the revenue generated from students’ fees increased from 29 per cent in 2005 to 50 per cent in 2020. This is one of the reasons for increasing student tuition fees every year. The cumulative student population including graduates and postgraduates was 5,055 students in 2020 and is now 24,912, indicating an increase of 36 per cent. Because of the marketing efforts made by the University, the number of international students has also changed from 9 per cent in 2005 to 26 per cent in 2020.
