International students intending to attend Canadian colleges and universities will be unable to attend the fall semester if they do not apply their completed study permit applications by this Saturday. “If you send a full application after May 15, 2021, we will review it as soon as possible – but you may not receive a final decision until the fall semester begins,” Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). International students must provide the following information with their study permit applications: the letter of approval given by the designated learning institution (DLI); as many of the documents required for a full application as possible; a letter of clarification for any incomplete documents due to COVID-19. The francophone province of Quebec has its own procedures that foreign students must obey, such as applying for a Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ – Québec Acceptance Certificate). “Canadian students enrolled in formal programmes increased by 10.9%, from 1,486,602 to 1,648,923. During the same time span, the number of foreign students more than tripled, from 101,304 to 318,153, according to a Statistics Canada report." International students accounted for 57.2 percent of the total growth in undergraduate programmes at Canadian colleges and universities during that time period.
