Alan Tudge, Acting Immigration Minister, announced the updation of the citizenship test and predicted that it could impact the migrants since a strong focus will to boost social cohesion by highlighting the Australian values. He further added that the country's values must be granted to those individuals who support and respect the laws. Another reason for modifying the policy is to safeguard the country’s multicultural success and promote its national identity. The most recent incidents where people from diverse communities displayed their support were the bushfires and the Covid-19 pandemic. Tugde also said that the Government will start free English classes for migrants who cannot speak in this language. Under the policy changes, any caps on the number of hours or classes will be removed, which will allow the citizens to enrol into the classes for free. With good English speaking and writing skills, the migrants will have better employment opportunities.
