With the Chinese Government struggling to contain the delta variant, there is a high probability that strict restrictions on the international borders will continue throughout 2022. International students have been eagerly waiting to return to China and continue their research and higher education but due to the zero-covid policy in the country, they will have to take classes online. In pre-pandemic China in 2018, study visas were granted to 500000 international students with more than half of this population from Asia. South Korean students comprise the largest population of the international student market in China. The borders have been closed since the last two years, which means students are locked out of this country for that period. With China’s strict measures to prevent further spread of the virus again, practices such as quarantine and lockdowns are still in place and will be equally applicable to all inbound passengers whether for work/travel/study purpose.
