The education minister of Australia Alan Tudge said that there have been extended lockdowns in Canberra, Darwin, Sydney, and Melbourne. But still, the international student’s pilot plans have not been dropped.

Tudge also mentioned that New South Wales and South Australia have already submitted the plan for the international student’s arrival. And the plan has been approved by the health officers as they are good. For now, New South Wales is focusing on the current outbreak and then coming out from the lockdown.

According to Tudge, 70% of the total population getting vaccinated can help to bring up the transition phase. He said that the universities should be ready to provide a diverse and great environment to both the international as well as domestic students when they arrive. As the border of Australia is closed, the nation is experiencing a noticeable amount of fall in the number of international students.

According to the data collected and analyzed by Tudge’s department, this impact of the immense decrease in the number of commencements is huge. It is said that this impact will still be felt for several years.
