The Australian government is taking a stand in its determination to keep a hard border in operation to safeguard its citizens from the Covid-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has reinforced Australia's cautious approach, saying that the country will open its borders until it is secured.

Despite the fact that budget projections indicate that the borders will remain closed until the middle of 2022, universities and federal governments are putting together formal plans to enable students to return to their home countries.

Moreover, The Victorian government has sent a proposal to the Australian government in support of this programme, which would allow for the safe arrival of key economic populations, including foreign students, to aid Victoria's and Australia's economic growth. In addition to the current international passenger arrival cap, the plan will see a small number of arrivals per week. To ensure the health and safety of our group, quarantine will be handled separately in a dedicated facility that adheres to the specifications of Victoria's hotel quarantine programme for returning overseas travellers.

It also includes "consideration of possible models for a post-vaccination scenario, which may also involve alternative quarantine or isolation facilities." We know that the Western Australian government wants the international education sector to emerge strongly and sustainably from the shadows of Covid-19.
