Australia slammed its international borders shut 18 months ago and has now, after a long time, reopened it for permanent Australian citizens and their immediate families. This will also pave the way for workers and travellers in the near future to enter the country. The first flights landed at the Sydney airport and departed from Singapore and Los Angeles. The passengers had not seen their family members for over two years and so were greeted by them with tears of happiness. Air hostesses also welcomed them with banners and Australian wildflowers and chocolate biscuits as gifts. With the reopening of international borders, Australian citizens can attend events, weddings, and funerals, which were earlier prohibited due to strict guidelines. According to the reports sent by officials at the Sydney airport, 1500 passengers flew in the city of Sydney and Melbourne and more people are scheduled to fly in over the next couple of weeks.
