Hundreds of staff at La Trobe University lost their jobs due to the recent outbreak. The Arts students are concerned about their future careers because of the rising cuts in the arts and social sciences departments at La Trobe.

The big structuring plan at La Trobe University is likely to have its fall out in the Arts creative sector negatively.

Natasha Joyce, a PhD history student at La Trobe University, has witnessed a "huge drop" in the number of staff at the Bendigo campus since she started her studies, 2014.

In 2014, the La Trobe Arts campus had 21members as faculty. This year, under the University Change Proposal, the number dropped to 11. The latest restructuring would witness a further drop in number, with the strength reaching eight.

La Trobe University's spokesman stated that there would be alternatives for staff members to transfer within the institutions.

The university plans to reshuffle staff in the course of this transition. The university will factor in their qualifications for determining where to place them. There would be alternatives made available for staff members to transfer within the institutions.

The University will also prioritise the placements suitable for the staff at their substantive level.
