The students who are interested to study business or law at the University of Leeds are offered free accommodation along with the cash of £10,000. This offer is made if the students choose to defer from their courses. Peter Jimack who is Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the university said that this offer is made because seats in the courses are full. He said that to oppose the exam based on the new teacher-assessed grades has made it hard to predict the number of successful applicants.

BBC was informed by Prof Jimack that the students have been contacted for the small number of the courses in two schools. If the student decides to defer to next year then they will be provided with the cash incentive of £10k along with the free housing for the first year. The student’s decision to defer for 2022 will also provide them the online material for helping them to prepare for their arrival next year. He further added that this decision is open and is left to the student’s choice; there is no pressure created by the university. The University of Exeter has also made the same offer for their medical students.
