As a service provider open source to strengthen Australia's IT industry, Instaclustr and the Canberra University developed an Open-Source software partnership for training, certification, research and development. Starting May 25, 2021, the first course focuses on Apache Kafka's development training and comprises seminars, webinars, fora and missions and evaluations. Instaclustr chief executive Peter Lilley said technology jobs will be in high demand in Australia over the next few years, with some estimates predicting that 156,000 more digital technology staff will be needed by 2025. "There is a considerable lack in expertise that needs to be addressed in Australia in terms of technology and digital literacy. While more than 80 percent of Fortune 100 organisations use Apache Kafka in their organisation, several companies are only beginning to recognise the advantages of open source technology. Instaclustr recognises how important it is for the future success of Australia, as a global IT manager and for providing young Australians with the skills that are so so wanted, to learn these skills.” Professor Nixon said: "We are committed to partnering with industry partners to boost our students' employability," he said. To partner with an industrial leader like Instaclustr, students are provided with access to knowledge, practical skills and academic supervision which enables our graduates to compete when they join the workforce.
