Introduction

Earth’s fate and the destruction of world nature was most recently put under the microscope in Sir David Attenborough’s Netflix documentary ‘A Life on Our Planet.’ The documentary marked a departure from Attenborough’s usual commentary formats and it instead grieves the damage caused by the changes in climate and the interference of human kind. Indeed, the documentary is an emotional watch to environmentalists and naturalists who recount the changes to natural world life that they see first-hand for example the poaching of world life for commercial purposes. A report published by the International-Science Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) indicates that more than a million species of plants and animals are at the risk of extinction in the history of man now (Marchant, 2020). Such statistics tell the gravity at which human interference is taking a toll on nature. However, the good news is that the invention of artificial intelligence can help forestall the extinction of animal species. This essay identifies world life extinction as a major and current real world problem and suggest the use of artificial intelligence as an innovative technique to solving the problem.

AI for World Life Conservation

The invention of artificial intelligence has been a boon in many fields and the world life conservation sector is just yet to explore it use (Clark '94, 2023). The application of AI in world life conservation can help ensure both humans and animals live together harmoniously in a number of ways discussed below;

Animal Tracking

Considering that patterns for example rubbings, tracks, and droppings in different animals species look the same to the untrained eye, it is often difficult to the conservationists to get to know the different animal species if there are changes in their movement patterns or if certain disasters happen leading to their death or severe injuries. The lead beneficial technique that can be used in animal tracking is the Microsoft World Me (Fritz, 2022). This technique makes use of data collected through animal pictures taken to establish a profile for certain animals. The practice of using the photographs and filtering them in the cloud can allow animal conservationists follow their activities in the jungle. Microsoft World Me uses many Azure AI programs to track and view the animals wherever they are in their movements.

Increased Biodiversity

Following the above point, the use of artificial intelligence will not only educate animal conservationists on the behaviors of animals. The use of programs like Azure AI programs will help track animals in case they stray to unknown territories and help them return to their homes by further ensuring that they do not become worse or invasive species. Another issue that the use of artificial intelligence can help resolve in animal conservation is the problem of endangered species to ensure their survival (Fritz, 2022). Animal conservationists (rangers) can use artificial intelligence to establish a path that the animals can use. This will help animal conservationists to know and get to the animals in case they are in danger.

Detecting Poachers

Embracing the use of night vision cameras and artificial intelligence enabled drones, AI can track poachers in the jungles and enable animal conservationists to forestall their activities of hunting down world life. AI can also use sound surveillance to track the movements of poachers and animals thereby establishing the path-finding abilities which are more accurate to follow up on the animal movements (Fritz, 2022). Certainly, when dealing with unlawful activities for example poaching, artificial intelligence is a vital tool of controlling the standoff. Rangers need to embrace the knowledge of AI to crunch down on the unlawful activity to conserve endangered species. Gladly, the dawn of AI invention and its inaugural deployment of this knowledge is so far helping to crunch down on the activities of poaching wild life.

Differentiation of Species

When distinguishing the different animal species in the jungle, there are certain animals which can hardly be confused for others. However, in many instances, animals have almost the same adaptation behaviors and physical characteristics which easily causes confusion. Although there are easy measures to distinguish animal species through sound and photos, the most common way used by scientists is through the identification of physical features for example the plumage of birds, fur and others (Fritz, 2022). Many a time, sight can lie to us, and as such, the knowledge of artificial intelligence can make use of photographs and the information about animals in the cloud to fast identify them. Moreover, the use of AI results into less intrusion by scientists and rangers and it also gives them a clear view of how world life behaves in nature instead of when they are in captivity.

Sound Surveillance

As mentioned above, the application of sound surveillance to identify external interference to world life conservation. The ability to sense if anything is odd is important in determining how to protect the local ecology. Some of the important wild life preservation surveillance systems can be those installed in rainforests since they can be a key protection alert feature. Tree forests are the primary habitat for dozens of wild life species. The reliance on forests together with the threat posed by humans on both the forests and animals certainly causes a worrying condition for animals (Fritz, 2022). Given the current surge in nature destruction, at any time the animals can lose their lives or habitat as a result of human interference. For example, concerns over illegal logging are causing a significant shrink of animal habitats. The good news is that the use of artificial intelligence would make this a manageable issue by using different trace sounds like chainsaws thereby allowing rangers and environmentalists chance to stop such illegal antics.

Conclusion

In summary, the application of artificial intelligence continues to make strides in different work sectors for the good. Studies into the techniques and knowledge application of AI proves that its knowledge can equally be applied in the practices to preserve wild life in many ways discussed above. As humans, we only pray that the science of artificial intelligence continues to evolve in line with the human abilities to preserve and protect nature.
