Introduction
Obesity in the US has acquired the state of a pervasive health problem affecting the lives of people belonging to various age brackets. Relevant data suggest that apart from the adult obesity, childhood obesity is a major threat in US and it has paved the way for the occurrence of other obesity related health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, physical inactivity and others (Obesity Rates amp Trend Data, 2019). Data suggests that proportion of obese US adults is greater than the individuals who are overweight in the economy. Therefore, it is imperative to analyze the extent of obesity in the US economy along with assessing the efficacy of present policies that are present in the economy for dealing with the increasing issue of obesity in the economy. The research will also shed light on the challenges that are faced by the government in addressing the problem of obesity in US.

Review of Literature
According to Barnhill et al. (2018), the first indication that obesity is taking on epidemic proportions initiated from the US economy. The government has been doing efforts by putting restrictions on the access and availability of food to the individuals in the US economy. In spite of these restrictions the US economy is not able to mitigate the problem of obesity (Barnhill et al., 2018). According to Hales et al. (2018), the US economy has witnessed an upward trend of obesity among the Americans and the prevalence level has reached up to 35. According to Hruby amp Hu (2015), the US children are slowly recovering from the obesity problem which is offsetting the predictions that have been made regarding rampant obesity level in the US economy by 2030. Thus, it can be predicted that the US economy is witnessing a success in reversing the epidemic faced by the US economy. However, it has been noticed that the extent of the issue of obesity is high among low income populations and racial and ethnic minorities in the US economy (Hruby amp Hu, 2015)
According to a study conducted by Nguyen et al. (2015), federal policies like advertising ban and promotion of physical activities in schools and colleges have positive results in combating with the issue of obesity in US. The findings of the study also revealed that afterschool physical activity programs have the most positive influence for reducing the prevalence of obesity among the lower income families of the US economy (Nguyen et al., 2015). Whereas, according to a secondary study conducted by () it was evaluated that the presence of SSB excise tax has the potential to contribute the most towards reducing the obesity levels in US than any other federal policy.
According to Kersh amp Morone (2002), there are various challenges faced by government in combating with the issue of obesity in an economy. the study reveals the fact that government intervention alone cannot help in combating with the issue of obesity because the reason for increasing obesity in the economy is the lifestyle of the population (Kershamp Morone, 2002). Another challenge that is faced by the government is the pressure from agricultural business lobby. Thus, the study conducted by Skinner et al. (2016) considers the issue of poverty disapproval. The policies intended to fight with the issue of obesity dies not gets enough approval from the society to deliver its anticipated positive results.
Thus, in order top deal with the challenges of obesity in the US economy it is important that the government should intervene in the private habits of the individuals (Skinner et al., 2016).Methodology
In order to obtain necessary information pertaining to the understanding of the barriers to the success of obesity policies in US, a secondary analysis of the available literatures will be conducted. Qualitative data published in the journal articles in this context will be taken into consideration. Moreover, the health data related to obesity furnished in the websites of the US government will also be analyzed. The timeframe of selection of articles will be from the year 2015 onwards and appropriate databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed and Medline will be screened for these articles. A rigorous meta-analysis will be carried out for assessing the results systematically and to derive suitable conclusion. Studies published only in the context of US domicile and in English language will be taken for evaluation.
