Title of the project is “Digital medical record software named as DigiHealth for patient records in GP clinics”.
In the hospital or a general practitioner, medical documentation error can be seen due to the manual input data for a patient's record that needs to be solved using this software. It has been a vital issue in the clinics or hospitals which has resulted in the missing documents issues. Due to the illegible handwriting and failure in the medical entry, lack of documentation issues is observed for patients to find out previous records. Incomplete documentation recorded in clinics can result in legal and settlement issues by donating fees to stop the document loss issues. It contributes to inaccurate statistical databases along with poor patient care by General practitioner clinics. Enhancement of medical records manually can cause loss of revenue within the Healthcare system due to missing documentation and late data entries (Priestman et al. 2018). It mainly affects patient care due to negligence in proper record keeping of patients in system software. All the above-mentioned problems will be included in the planning to be solved with digital medical record software.
From the described problem, specific issues will be targeted such as loss of patient care record, inaccurate statistical databases, loss of licence, legal issues and loss of revenue. It can be seen that illegal handwriting is uploaded manually by general practice nurses. This resulted in a lack of documentation in terms of poor treatments and medication process to record patient’s data. Poor record of data in the Manual system creates the possibility of high error which can be a sub-issue that needs to be solved with the implementation of the software (Verheij et al. 2018). Misplaced documentation or incomplete documentation will be recognised under the clinical record of patients within the organisation. Assessment of high-level problems such as poor patient care will be taken as a priority to be solved with information system software.
The proposed solution of identified problems will be the implementation of electronic or Digital medical record software named as DigiHealth. The software will be creating a list of digital health records with the help of common features such as digital charting, decision support, reporting and order entry. Digital charting helps in maintaining patient care facilities for the healthcare system. Enhanced care coordination can be experienced during the implementation of software that can restrict legal issues in terms of maintaining Statistical databases. Improved clinical recordings can be experienced through the medical record system in terms of resolving the issue of missing documents and incomplete record of patients (Subahi, 2019). Accommodation of the latest features of the software with the help of a decision support system will be enhancing the quality of patient care through symptom checking and prescription of correct medication that will be integrated into drug databases. The software will be helping GP clinics to maintain order entry of patients supported with efficient clinical reporting with the enhanced integrated features.
It will create great business value to the clinic and hospital wherever it will be applicable because it saves time for employees to record patient’s information. The encounter of the patient document will be supported in the Healthcare organisation focusing on day to day operations. Practice management software using the medical health record can help in supporting adequate billing functions and straightforward decisions. It is a cloud-based software that will be efficient in managing patient health information in different locations who cannot operate digital software for the patient record. For the patient record, it will help customers such as patients to have effective diagnosis due to reduced medical errors in the data recording system (Rodziewicz and Hipskind, 2020). It will improve communication and interaction between Clinics and patients enabling safer and accurate medical information. Uses of software such as clinics or Healthcare organisations can enable the software in terms of enhancing reliability in medical records that prevents loss of revenue. It will help in contributing accurate statistical databases without losing any licence for legal issues.
DigiHealth Software process will be a focus on the development of the healthcare software solution in terms of the patient record and inventory management. The medical database software will be user-friendly that will transfer, gather, manage and assess the information of patients. It focuses on clinical assessment with the integration of electronic devices that will enhance management capability. Development of software will be dependent on demand customizations, user interfaces, billing, patient record portal, referral management system, practice management system and external system. It will record the data and transfer it to the hierarchy or respective Healthcare departments for the supportive clinical decision-making process and financial performances.
In order to determine the activities of each stage, the software development life cycle will be created with an effective milestone. Steps that need to be included in the development of medical record software will be planning, interpretation, design, implementation, testing and maintenance.
